Tucker-Northlake Community Improvement District selects Sizemore Group to conduct master planning study Project to guide planning of walkable mixed-use center and more–

Tucker, GA (January 5, 2015) – The Tucker-Northlake Community Improvement District (TNCID) has selected Sizemore Group, an award-winning architecture firm based in Atlanta, to conduct a master planning study of the Tucker-Northlake area. Sizemore Group was selected because of the firm’s extensive experience – in suburban retrofits and historic town centers including more than 30 successfully implementable Livable Centers Initiatives – enhancing livability through the planning and design of healthy transportation choices, lifelong communities and principals, and healthy attractive place making.

The study – the Tucker-Northlake CID Study – will build from previous Livable Centers Initiative plans and studies, resulting in a master plan update that will bring together various stakeholders to form a unified vision for the ultimate enhancement of the Tucker-Northlake Area. The three-month study will begin in January 2015.

“Market demand in the TNCID has greatly changed since the previous LCI initiatives were completed in 2005 and 2010 for Tucker and 2002 and 2006 for Northlake,” said Ann Rosenthal, President of TNCID. “This study will provide market based guidance for future growth of the Tucker-Northlake area to create vibrant, walkable, mixed use centers that address this growing community’s needs.”

“We are so honored to be chosen to work with the TNCID on the Tucker-Northlake CID Study, building upon Sizemore groups decades of experience designing and planning healthy towns and campus environments that serve as catalysts for other development and redevelopment,” said Bill de St. Aubin, CEO of Sizemore Group. “As is Sizemore Group’s mission with every project, we are excited to help TNCID enhance a spirit of community and design an environment that celebrates culture and history, and instill a sense of shared values and memorable experiences. “

The study area comprises the recently expanded Tucker-Northlake CID boundary and includes, approximately LaVista Road, Midvale Road, and Henderson Mill Road to the north; Mountain Industrial Boulevard to the east; the back of parcels along Lawrenceville Hwy to the south; and Northlake Mall and the surrounding commercial district to the west. Key points of interest within the study area include Downtown Tucker, Northlake Mall, Northlake Tower Festival Shopping Center, Briarcliff La Vista Shopping Center, Briarcliff Village Shopping Center, and Emory University Orthopaedics and Spine Hospital.

About the Tucker-Northlake Community Improvement District (TNCID)
The Tucker-Northlake Community Improvement District was originally formed in May 2013 as the Tucker CID to generate revenue through self-taxation for economic development, transportation, and infrastructure projects. Less than one year after the formation of the Tucker CID, a majority of the Northlake commercial business stakeholders joined the public-private partnership, which was then re-named the Tucker-Northlake CID. www.TuckerNorthlakeCID.com
