The long anticipated Tucker Town Green opened to a joyous crowd in November 2025, and the space continues to be a bright jewel in the heart of the city. From the band on the stage and children enjoying the moguls covered in artificial grass, to the commemorative beer can provided by the Tucker Brewing Company and countless conversations, this was an event like none other in the history of Tucker.
Tucker Mayor Frank Auman led the City’s ribbon cutting including a long list of thank you messages to those who helped shepherd the project along over the years.
Using location intelligence and analytics software, the Tucker-Northlake CID has already seen an increase in activity in downtown Tucker since the town green opened three months ago. An estimated 1,500 people attended the grand opening, with approximately 35% of those who attended living outside the Tucker ZIP code.
More than 200 visitors also patronized businesses at the Shops at Tucker Depot (Local 7, Nicky’s Undefeated, Trio Nails, and Perc Coffee). Others visited Villager Burger, Ford’s BBQ, Matthews Cafeteria, and, in part due to the unseasonably warm weather, even Bruster’s saw an increase in post-visit activity.
Results were similar for the North Pole at Tucker event in December. In addition, the amount of time people are spending in downtown Tucker is increasing on non-event days. The inclusion of public restrooms, seating, tables, parking, and a place to walk at a safe distance from traffic all supports a community that wants to be together.
“It’s Main Street’s backyard,” said Tucker-Northlake CID Executive Director Matthew Lee. “It’s here to support the business community and their customers. You can only squeeze so many tables on the sidewalk before it’s a hazard. The Tucker Town Green gives everyone coming to downtown Tucker a place to gather.
“Many people didn’t fully understand the investment in the alleys three years ago, but they continue to be a natural fit. Alleys and street grids have been around for over 4,000 years. When done well, they make sense. At each event on the green people move in and out through the alleys with ease, as if they had always been there. It’s exciting to see something so simple and timeless, that’s been hidden in plain site for over one hundred and thirty years, working so well.”
Spring and summer will bring events to Main Street that will naturally flow into the Tucker Town Green. The Tucker Cruise-In, Tucker Day, the City’s concert series, and other events will continue to benefit from the space for decades to come. The green will continue to be a place where memories are made and carried forward for a lifetime.
