At the request of the Tucker-Northlake CID and the City of Tucker, the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has installed no parking signs along the entrance and exit ramps at I-285 and Lavista Road and at I-285 and Lawrenceville Highway. Parking is not permitted along I-285, but without signs posted it left ambiguity for those who may not know Georgia law.

Over the last year several truck drivers, either in defiance of the law or out of ignorance, made a regular habit of parking along these ramps. This presented a safety hazard for the owners of the trucks and tens of thousands of drivers using the ramps each day. The new signs send a clear message confirming what everyone should already know. Parking is not allowed.
