In addition to the Georgia Department of Transportation’s (GDOT) on going work with top end I-285 cities and CIDs on transit opportunities, their work now has the official support of four counties and three other state agencies. Collectively the new partnership commits $16 Million towards a scoping study to advance Express Lane Transit (ELT) on I-285.

Representatives from Cobb, Fulton, DeKalb, and Gwinnett counties, GDOT, MARTA, the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), and the Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority (ATL) met with the media and invited guests to formally sign the agreement last week.

City of Tucker Mayor Frank Auman and Tucker-Northlake CID Executive Director Matthew Lee attended the event. Both played a role in the previous studies to ensure the project has the right focus on I-285 through Tucker.

This new agreement further cements Northlake Parkway’s position on I-285 for north and south facing access for ELT, as the Northlake regional activity center continues to grow with multifaceted transit-oriented development.
