This afternoon the Tucker-Northlake CID Board of Directors held its fourth board meeting of the year at Tandem Bank, and all members of the board were present. Chip Cofer was elected to Post 2 and Charles Dewitt was elected to Post 5. The Board elected to keep all board officers and committees as presently constituted.
Matthew Lee, the CID’s Executive Director, shared an update on the media and public response to the release of the Tucker Public Safety Assessment and Feasibility Study, and the ongoing conversations with city and county officials.
The Board discussed the challenge of imbalanced property tax assessments that do not reflect the true value of the property and harm businesses. A commercial property owner with a 0.22-acre lot was assessed at a 750% tax increase, totaling just under $1 million, in one year with no improvements to the property.
