The Tucker-Northlake Community Improvement District (CID) has engaged with MARTA in reviewing all existing bus routes through the Tucker-Northlake CID. Jarrett Walker & Associates is assisting MARTA with a systemwide bus network redesign project focused on two models of service. Coverage and ridership. The coverage model includes stops on more streets but at less frequent intervals. The ridership model reduces coverage but increases the frequency of stops.

Based on ridership data and the needs of businesses with employees who rely on MARTA for transportation, the Tucker-Northlake CID has recommended advancing the ridership model. In Tucker this will enable MARTA to focus on areas with the highest demand without harming outliers. Increasing stops adjacent to large employers and residential developments from hourly to every 15 minutes.

The Tucker-Northlake CID also supports MARTA in advancing a faster route between Northlake Mall and the Doraville MARTA Station along I-285. This supports Georgia Department of Transportation’s plans for express lanes on I-285 that will accommodate public transit.
